CHARD RUGBY REPORT FOR SATURDAY 5TH APRIL 2008
WIVELISCOMBE 3RD XV 42PTS CHARD 5PTS
Once again this was a game of two halves in every sense.
Chard had the dubious advantage of playing down the famous Wivey slope in opening half and although they did not play too badly they failed to take advantage and indeed the only score in the opening half was an unconverted try coming from the home side so Chard found themselves trailing by 5pts to nil at the break.
Richard Larcombe scored a good try for Chard in the but generally Chard were outplayed in the second half and were particularly at a disadvantage in the rucks and mauls where the streetwise home forwards dominated the proceedings. Chards inability to keep and retain the ball in the tackle area was a real problem and Wivey ran away with things and chalked up a big win.
Next Saturday Chard have three league games at home .
