FRIENDLY

CHARD 56PTS CREWKERNE OPTS

With the appointed official not arriving both sides were grateful to Somerset rfu president John Williams for stepping in at the last minute and doing a good job with the whistle.

Chard won this annual end of year friendly match against their near neighbours as comfortably as the score suggests. Chard dominated the set pieces and the pace of their backs was too much for the plucky Crewkerne side.

Chard scored ten tries with these coming from Ben Stead 3, Jon Hendy, James Twigg, Alan Henley, Johnny Porter, Dave Lane, Paul Nicholls and the score of the match from prop forward and club coach Steve Broome who claims he sprinted over the line for his try! Nicholls added three conversions.

The Chard Club return to league action next Saturday... The 1st xv are away at Keynsham in a Somerset Premier league match, the 2nds are at home to Bournemouth in a Dorset and Wilts league game and the 3rd xv are also at home to Burnham on Sea in a Somerset 3 match..
